The formal launching of the fighting sport of Jendo was organized in 1994. The event, dubbed as "Mayor BEN ABALOS" was sponsored by the Mayor himself Honorable Benjamin S. Abalos, Sr., the former Metro-Manila Development Authority and the Philippine Commission on Election Chairman. In the photo shows Mayor Abalos wearing red polo shirt, greets former Philippine Karate Do Federation President Manuel Pocholo Veguillas on left. Standing on the right are Philippine Olympic Committee President - Retired Major General Rene R. Cruz and Mrs. Corazon Abalos.
